Working with Barnabus Manchester

A charity that does incredible work helping the homeless

Over the last 12 months or so, we’ve had the privilege of working with Barnabus Manchester, a charity that does incredible work supporting homeless and vulnerable people in the city. It’s not just about giving someone a place to stay, it’s about offering hope and a real chance to rebuild their lives.

At TXM Movers, we always try to help out, whether that’s working with charities or going the Xtra Mile for our customers by adjusting our services to fit their needs or budget. I’m not one to post for the sake of letting people know who we are helping, but at the end of the day, if someone is encouraged by this post then that’s what really matters.

Growing up, my mum, sister, and I were homeless for a while, living in mother and children shelters. Life was tough, and I know first-hand how even the smallest bit of help can make a massive difference. Those little things are pieces of a puzzle, helping someone build a better future.

So if you can, do something, anything, no matter how small. You never know how much it could mean to someone who’s struggling.

If you’re in a position to support Barnabus directly, you can find them at barnabus.org. And if you’ve got a move coming up in Manchester, our house removals team and man and van service are based right here in Old Trafford, ready to help.

Ross.

FAQ’s

Barnabus is a Manchester-based charity that supports people experiencing homelessness across Greater Manchester. Their work covers practical day-to-day support such as hot meals, showers, clothing, and a postal address, plus longer-term help with housing, employment, and mental health. You can read about their current programmes at barnabus.org.

We help in the way we know best, by giving our time, our team, and our vans. Over the last twelve months that has meant moving donated furniture, supporting Barnabus’s outreach work in the city, and adjusting how we operate to fit what they actually need on the day. It is small in the scheme of things, but it adds up.

TXM does not collect cash donations on the charity’s behalf. The cleanest way to support Barnabus is to give directly through their website at barnabus.org, which is set up for one-off and regular donations. If you have furniture, clothing, or other items you want to donate, contact Barnabus first to check what they can accept and how to drop it off.

We work with charities locally where we can be useful, usually for one-off moves or transport jobs that match what our team is set up to do. We do not run a formal partnership programme, and we do not take payment for charity work. If you run a Manchester charity and you think we might be able to help, drop us a message through our contact page.

Yes. We are based at 34 Brindley Rd, Old Trafford, and cover Greater Manchester plus UK-wide long-distance moves. The same team that helps Barnabus runs every job, and we live by what we call the Xtra Mile, turning up on time, with the right kit, and treating belongings as a responsibility rather than a job. Request a quote and we will come back within one working day.
